Happy dance - IT WORKS!!

Metagenics, UltraMeal, Natural Dutch Chocolate Flavor, 22.5 oz (630 g)This product really does work, IF you also work the food-lifestyle change correctly. The flavors are a bit of an adjustment to get "used" to. I incorporate my daily fruit into each drink by blending the Dutch Chocolate flavor with whole frozen strawberries (no sugar added). Its makes it easier to choke down ... I mean drink. I've also used frozen peaches, mangoes, blackberries etc.I say frozen because using cold water and frozen fruit makes it easier to drink as it lends it a more smoothie like flavor and less like blended up cardboard. Whatever you do, use a blender!! Otherwise, you will never get it mixed up properly.If you're short on time (like my too lazy to get up when the alarm goes off self is), then I recommend getting a "shaker cup" - one that comes with an easy flip top and a wire whisk-ball inside it and using EXTREMELY cold water and a few ice cubes. I say all the shaking you have to do to get it blended up this way counts as your morning exercise. [My dietitian laughed but didn't agree.] This came in handy on mornings I was late to leave the house & knew I'd be stuck in a fair amount of commute traffic anyway. Keep a lot of straws on hand in your car though, don't try to actually sip out of a shaker cup unless you like wearing your drink for all the world to see and smelling like foul, spoiled, wet cardboard all day.WARNING !!! Whichever way you make this -- thoroughly wash all products used in the making of and consumption of this fine meal as quickly as possible. DO NOT ever let it just sit there for a while getting warm and dank and musty and OMG WHAT THE BLEEPING IS THAT SMELL???? Trust me, just make your clueless life easier and remain clueless on this ... JWI ... Just Wash It!!!!! Do not, I repeat, Do NOT make the lazy mistake I did and leave the used cup (I did drink it on the way to work, honest!) in a closed up car, in the heat, in the summer time, in the desert. You will start taking your chosen deities name in vain as the horrific dead-thing-in-your-vehicle smell hits you smack in the nostrils and burns out your nose hairs and tear-ducts.That warning aside, the product DOES work. If you're faithful to following the correct eating habits associated with real weight loss, this will work for you as a supplement to the change in those eating habits.Oh .. and that 8oz water to 2 scoops of powder directions? Yeahhhh ... increase the amount of water until you can actually blend the sucker up and drink it. I try to keep the whole blended amount [water, fruit, ice, powder] at or under 16oz total. That's a "grande" frapp in case you needed a reference. It's also the size of most shaker-cups. That's do-able without over-kill on how long it takes to drink it.Keep an extra cup or bottle of water on hand to wash your mouth out. This stuff is mega-clingy. I can't imagine what my poor stomach is thinking, but I bet chicken nuggets no longer stick to it.Notice, I only mention the Dutch Chocolate? I don't even like eating chocolate much. Well I learned to freaking love it because I really did try the Vanilla and the Peach ones thinking they would better blend with the fruit. I ended up using them up by cutting them with the DC just to choke them down. Ick. Go DC!!

Good meal replacement

I feel decadent drinking a rich chocolate shake in the morning! I don't think it tastes like cardboard. It is clingy (to the cup) and hard to stir up. I like it with cold water but it actually better dissolves in hot coffee - just as long as you keep stirring it! The shaker cup works but so does a glass with a spoon - just think chocolate milk. I use it as a replacement meal and follow the meal and exercise plan. I will need a doctor visit to determine whether my values have come down but I know the weight has - 20 pounds in 6 weeks. Not bad - and better what I was doing before!

Helping me manage my T2 diabetes.

This was recommended to me by a nutritionist. I have one first thing in the morning and then again late afternoon. I was having trouble managing my meals. I was always skipping breakfast and eating bad snacks in the afternoon. Now, having a shake in the morning really helps me get going and then I eat a healthy breakfast. Then in the afternoon it is the perfect time to help out with my hunger pangs and low blood sugar. It is a little expensive... but I think it is worth it.
