I have worked as a house framer here in NW Fl for ten years. I am out in the sun eight hrs a day, 40 hrs a week, doing moderately heavy labor at production speed. Humidity runs at 100%, which counts for a lot, since all the sweat in the world produces little evaporative cooling, so your body sweats even more trying to keep your core temp down. On top of that, I have overactive sweat glands. I sweat like a marathon runner all day long.Last week, the heat index ran in the 120s and even reached 130. I ordered Thermolyte's product, in order to begin getting my potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium, the combination you get in Gatorade and Powerade, without drinking down all that sugar and taking in all those calories. Through the years, on top of the Gatorade, I have learned to take a potassium supplement along with very small palmfuls of table salt, both of which are risky to do health-wise but are entirely necessary for me to knock out muscle cramps and keep going. (I am 44, by the way.) So I said, trust a sports lab to give you a safer and more balanced way to supplement.This week, I tried the Thermolyte tabs. They only took a couple of days to come. Shipping was like 2.50. Sunday, in preparation for Monday morning, I began lightly dosing myself with Thermolyte on top of my water regimen, because I was still feeling the effects from last week: mild muscle fatigue, some nausea, muscles trying to cramp, and - for me - prickling skin, like needles all over, when I exert myself. All week I drank only water, no Gatorade, and took the Thermolyte at 1/3 to 1/2 the maximum dosage of six capsules per hour during the workday. When very mild muscle cramps persisted in the evening, after work - really just twitches or pre-cramps - I knew to keep taking 1-2 capsules every few hours until they went away. I made it through the week without any sickness or any full-on muscle cramps, and without any downtime. I know from long experience on the edge of heat sickness that it was the Thermolyte Metasalt that did it. Normally I'd have been down for at least 24 hrs this past week; instead, I just kept feeling stronger. I finished out Friday in pretty good shape.The only drawbacks to this product that I can see are: (1), it gives me mild heartburn and stomach upset at higher doses; and (2), I went through half the bottle in a week. That's a 40.00 a month supplement bill, without even taking it at full dosage, throughout the summer months. So be ready for that. Aside from these complaints, I have to say that I believe this product gives your body what it needs to keep going in the heat. Probably a normal person working under the same conditions could keep his bill down to 20.00 a month.I'm thinking, a weak Gatorade mix with Thermolyte tabs thrown in as needed.

The BEST advise I've got from an experienced Marathoner

I am 48 years old. In terms of sports I am a former National Windsurfing, Sailing and Mountain Biking champion. Now, 24 years older, I decided I wanted to "motivate/test" myself and do a full distance Marathon. Yes, run 26.2 miles...To make a long story short, I have trained hard for 18 weeks, and I noted after the "Saturday's Long Runs" of 13+ miles, under the Florida sun, (permanent 80 to 90+ F) that no matter what I did, how much sports drink I drank, with heavy heat and sweating, my legs turned heavy and had to battle cramps on my hamstrings and feet; I had to reduce pace and suffer while trying to keep running. Due to hardheadedness and old fitness still present in my body, I finished all the required training distances but in very bad shape. I could not help to think I would NOT be able to finish the marathon... Maybe "age" already caught with me, maybe my legs are just not "runners legs"... Was this "crazy goal" impossible for me? I was beginning to accept defeat as a highly feasible result in advance... not really nice.Suddenly, my friend Ana (46, who is also struggling to do her first Marathon)told me that an experienced marathoner friend recommended her to buy "Salt Capsules" immediately. What? Salt Capsules? Mhhhh...We searched and acquired at a runners store a bottle of Metalsalt Thermolyte. Yesterday morning we used them in our "20 mile" longest run training. We started running at 6:00 AM... two hours later we were at 80+ degrees F with very high humidity. Now I am not only convinced I will be able to finish my first Marathon, I am starting to believe I will do an interesting time!

Excellent results in high-humidity marathon

I used Thermolyte Metasalt for the first time when I ran the Grandfather Mountain Marathon (NC) on July 14 this year. Humidity was 100% (literally), and conditions were relatively cool and overcast the entire run. I was soaking wet with sweat by the 5th mile or so with shoes sopping wet and squishing, so the rain at mile 23 didn't make me any wetter. I followed the label directions basically, taking two Metasalt tablets at the start of the run and two more on the hour thereafter. I did drink about 5 oz. of Cytomax every half hour or so, but that was a significant reduction (about half) from previous marathons. Results: NO cramping in legs or feet, and I actually felt good at the end of the run. I also gave a "trial run" to Metasalt in a 26 mile training run in Southern California in the heat about two and a half weeks prior to the marathon. Again, NO cramping despite lots of sweating during hours of running in "dry heat." I'm ordering another bottle of this stuff and plan to use it over the next year with the expectation that these excellent results will continue.
