Other bars just dont stack up. Here is why:

Tastes great (not overly sweet) and a nice little treat while I am on my low-carb diet.-20 grams of protein. Always a plus, especially if you are trying to gain muscle.-17 grams of fiber. Thats a crazy amount of fiber! One serving of benefiber has only 3 grams.-No sugar or sugar alcohols, which can often cause some GI discomfort. Some sugar alcohols also have a high glycemic index, which can throw you out of ketosis or cause your body to store fat.-Gluten free-Trans fat freeIf you are on any kind of diet, you could waste your money on other so called energy bars or snack bars, but chances are you will be consuming the same amount of, if not more calories. You will also be putting a bunch of other junk in your body like tons of sugar, or sugar alcohols or trans fat. Most importantly, you will not be getting nearly as much fiber.With Quest bars, you get it all: a delicious treat that is extremely nutritious and very filling, without all the JUNK in other bars.I wish they were a lot cheaper, but quality comes at a price.

Yippee - no insulin spike

Quest sent me 2 free bars in the post all the way across the Atlantic, bless 'em.These are very different from Atkins and 'health' bars I've tasted. I've reduced carbs this year and find that ordinary food now taste incredibly sweet, so I have to spit them out. Most nutrition bars are also sweet and I can tell by heat surges later on that the sugar alcohols and other artificial sweeteners have triggered a big insulin release. Some bars also taste of wood shavings or other odd flavoursQuest bars are naked - ie they have no chocolate covering. They remind me of home made bars, but much more sophisticated and subtle tasting. They are pleasantly sweet and not overwhelming. The texture is firm and not cloying.I like the Vanilla & Almond flavour best.Great addition to the market.

My favorite low-carb protein bars

I have tried many protein bars like Doctor's CarbRite and thinkThin. thinkThin (Dark Chocolate) used to be my favorite until I came across Quest Bars; I absolutely love the taste and I really like how they are digested: it feels as if I am eating some nuts, no side effects whatsoever. thinkThin make me feel a little bloated, especially if I eat a couple. I have eaten a couple of Quest Bars without any problems. Similar to the difference between grain-fed and grass-fed beef, one makes you feel like you have eaten a rock (at least for me) while the other feels like you have eaten some easy-to-digest veggies.The list of ingredients is ridiculously short: 11 vs. 21 (excluding vitamins and minerals) for thinkThin. The ingredient list doesn't include any scary-sounding chemicals; Lo Han Guo (or Luo Han Guo) is a very sweet Asian fruit that is supposed to be 300 times sweeter than sugar and has been used as a sweetener for almost one thousand years (according to Wikipedia). I also love the quality of proteins: Whey Protein Isolate and Milk Protein Isolate and the lack of soy.I just wish that Amazon can start fulfilling the orders; $12 for shipping is way too high, Quest charges only 4.95.Fun fact: if you ever visit Quest's site, notice that Chest (Chet) Yorton is a blog contributor. Chet is one of the most amazing athletes; he is one of only 3 men to beat Arnold Schwarzenegger. Just out of high school, he had a horrible car accident and he was in a cast from head to toe. Then, while recovering at home, he fell down the stairs and that required more surgery. Chet went on to win Mr. Universe and the "amazing" part is this: he never used steroids. I encourage you to watch the video of an extremely muscular and fit 70 year old man (I seriously didn't think it was possible).Very highly recommended.
