Perfect for long runs

I used this for the first time while doing a half marathon trail run. The run itself was 13.3 miles (just over the regulation half marathon distance) and had a climb of just under 1800 ft. I ate a few of these along the way and had no problems chewing and swallowing while running at the same time. Having run this trail before and having hit "the wall" at about Mile 9 or so, these definitely saved me from hitting the wall the second time around and gave me the boost I needed to fly through the last mile and a half of rolling hills and on to the finish line. If you're not used to having a burst of caffeine, you might want to look at the other Shot Bloks flavors because some have caffeine and some don't.

Perfect for Biking

I love the strawberry flavor. These are great for biking because they are easy to eat even if you are wearing gloves, you can eat as many or as few as you want and put them back in your jersey, and they are very quick to chew and swallow. They are a great alternative to energy gels.

Life savers

I've been of fan of these for a while now, and I'm glad they are finally readily available in the caffeine free form on Amazon. They are a big help when I've failed to eat properly (which is often) or I'm just totally dragging but have a long workout ahead. I usually eat a few blocks before a race or before a multi-hour martial arts workout when I'm already feeling wiped after a day of work. I feel more energized within minutes and that boost lasts for hours. Great quick carb-fuel for your body, plus a shot of electrolytes.These puppies where also a life saver for a friend of mine on a recent trip to Grand Teton, WY. In the middle of the night after a grueling climb we were bivouacked in a snow hole when he woke up shivering uncontrollably. While the temps outside were way below freezing we were toasty in our bags. At first we thought he was stricken with HACE but after evaluating his symptoms we realized he was just utterly electrolyte and glucose depleted. After popping two of these his symptoms vanished and he was good to go.Remember to drink plenty of water!
